Go “Nuts” Over This Cashew Coffee Recipe

There are some great sustainability organizations out there working to make the farming of nuts more sustainable for our people and our environment. One way that you can support those efforts is to use sustainably grown nuts and to manage your nut waste responsibly. 

One amazing way to use cashews is in coffee. And, luckily for you, we've created one of the best coffee recipes using cashew nuts.

This Cashew Coffee Recipe is making everyone a little nuts because of its sweet and salty duality! This creamy coffee beverage is good for any coffee time, but as with all of your products, make sure to source your cashew nuts and your coffee sustainably!

How to Find Sustainable Cashews

Before we jump into this cashew recipe, let's take a moment to talk about how to find sustainable nuts. That way, you can make sure that you're supporting a healthy and happy environment. 

When looking for sustainable, quality cashews, the most important thing to do is to research the company. A quick Google search of the company should tell you more about the company and how they source their nuts or you can find partners that are a part of the Sustainable Nut Initiative.

You can also read the ingredients label on the bag of nuts. This will help indicate if there are any preservatives or additional chemicals added to the package. 

One of the easiest ways to find sustainable cashews is to shop local. Many local stores use local goods, so you can more easily verify where the cashews are coming from.

Collect Your Cashew Coffee Ingredients

To get started creating a cup of tasty cashew coffee, you'll need:

  • Favorite Smile Coffee Werks Coffee PodFlavor
  • ¼ cup cashews (roasted and unsalted)
  • 1 TBS honey
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Pinch of cinnamon or cinnamon stick (optional)

*Let cashews soak in water for at least 4 hours or overnight if you do not have a high-powered blender; drain and rinse until water runs clear

How to Make a Tasty Cup of Cashew Coffee

With your ingredients on hand, you're ready to get to work whipping up a cup of your new favorite coffee.

To start, put your favorite Smile Coffee Werks pod in your brewer (we love High Country with this recipe because its nutty-caramel flavor pairs so well with the cashew milk).

Pour ¾ cup of coffee into the blender with cashews, honey, and salt.

From there, begin to blend the ingredients. Start on low speed and work your way up to high speed.

Once the liquid is smooth, pour in the remaining coffee. Then, briefly blend the mixture again.

Pour the coffee drink into a mug and garnish with cinnamon or cinnamon stick. Then, sip on your tasty cashew coffee and enjoy the nutty aroma while you throw your entire plant based coffee pod into your compost bin!
